The Mexican economy could register a slowdown in growth of gross domestic product (GDP) during the second half of 2011 due to slower growth in the U.S. economy, affected by high oil prices, considered HSBC Mexico.
Sergio Martin, an economist at the bank, said in an analysis: "The recent spike in Oil prices could have a negative impact on the Mexican economy in an indirect way if the U.S. economy is slowing, given the strong ties between the two. "
